RFIDs = 666 ???

All in the name of medicine, or is it?
"An American company, Verichip, is developing an RFID chip implant that will permanently store your medical records under your skin, so any hospital equipped with a reader can know all your pertinent health information even if you are unconscious. A simpler version of this subcutaneous chip is already implanted to help identify pets." writes NewsWeek .

"Injectees would thereafter be able to breeze past bouncers and entrance lines, magically open doors to VIP lounges, and pay for drinks without cash or credit cards. The ID number on the VIP chip was linked to the user's financial accounts and stored in the club's computers. " See full article here.

"The June report points out that until recently RFID technology was used mainly for logistical purposes to identify cargo. "Now it has entered the public space on a massive scale: public transport cards, the biometric passport, micro-payment systems, office ID tokens, customer loyalty cards, et cetera." excerpted from e-week.com.

Globe and Mail reports: "In design, the tag is simple: A medical-grade glass capsule holds a silicone computer chip, a copper antenna and a "capacitor" that transmits data stored on the chip when prompted by an electromagnetic reader."

NewsWeek reports: "The technology has the potential to transform our relationship to the objects around us. In theory, stores could dispense with checkout counters—instead, you'd grab items off the rack or shelves and walk out the door, while an RFID reader takes note of the items and takes the money right out of your e-wallet."

Steps Toward the Mark is dedicated to teaching on the relationship of prophecy and current events related to the 'mark of the beast.' The site provides additional links about RFIDs.

This is mean to be an FYI post. I know what I think about all of this, but I couldn't decide exactly how to post about it. Your comments will be appreciated. Thank you.

How far can we be from the end of the age, when technologically, and ever more so psychologically, society is ready for the mark of the beast? Thanks for the info.

Well, I must admit, my dog has this micro chip in him..and I have often contemplated having one put in my soon to be teenager...however, all jesting aside...it is a serious ethical issue and I am thinking about presenting this for discussion in my psychology class this fall...thanks!!!

There is no doubt, this very useful tool could also be the beginnings...or perhaps, even, the very thing that aligns with Revelation's the "Mark of the Beast."

I remember my Grandmother talking about the scare that Christians felt when SS#'s were assigned. In today's world, we have the ability to scan an unseen identification marker.....without so much as a card necessary.

At this time in my life-long study....I am a pre-trib believer. It won't matter so much if I have a medical marker....as it is very possible that my body will not be here for it to be used by the Antichrist. The bigger fear, of course, for those remaining,is that they will have to choose to take this mark to be able to live in the remaining world. I have never believed that this choice would be sprung upon anyone....it seems to be Biblical that it will be known....there will be a choice. If you take the mark of the beast...you will know what it means. Am I making any sense here? I can certainly come back with scripture references.....I'm still in my robe this morning (and it's 11:43 a.m.). I should be getting ready for the day! Geesh! Love a good distraction!

I'm with you Diane. I'm not going to be around during the Tribulation. I also agree that this is a useful tool for many applications. Like so many other tools, we are being de-sensitized into accepting whatever technological advances are made.
A recent example in WTH Organization,(i.e. hospital system): It is now mandatory for all employees to have direct deposit. Mandatory, or you can not work for the org. Now, I am not against it, but see the how the technology was forced upon the unwilling?

chgreen: I don't have the answers yet. It is just something I picked up from another blog. It works sort of like the sitemeter. I'll check it out later tonight.

Big Brother always rises to power because at the beginning it looks like he's taking care of us. It's the well intentioned incursions into respect for human beings that lead to the worst outcomes.

Glad to see I am not alone in my way of thinking.
I don't like the idea of any of this.
Yet the day will come, when you must, or die.
